Hockliffe Lower School – White Lion Fundraiser!

HOCKLIFFE LOWER SCHOOL KIDS – DRIVEN and EXCEPTIONAL

Below is an incerpt from a letter written to Linda Tucker from Heather Wray – a wonderful teacher from Hockliffe Lower School : )

“A class of 7-9 year olds from Hockliffe Lower School, located in England near Milton Keynes 50 miles north of London, were entranced with the White Lions of Timbavati as a result of reading Michael Murpurgo’s “The Butterfly Lion”.  They subsequently researched African legends surrounding the White Lions, their discovery by Linda Tucker, their plight with canning, and the work of The Global White Lion Protection Trust.

They were so driven by the injustice, that they wrote the head teacher to persuade her to let the school raise money. They had to do a presentation to the whole school about the White Lions and then the whole school had a day when they came dressed in white, made lion hats, and made cakes with lion faces to sell at break time. The children raised 110 pounds!! It so happened it was the same week Linda Tucker was in England!!”

The children wrote letters thanking Linda for raising awareness. Their letters and pictures of their magnificent efforts are below.

THANK YOU HOCKLIFFE LOWER SCHOOL FOR YOUR AMAZING DEDICATION TO THE WHITE LIONS!!
