No more gin traps! – November 2008

The Global White Lion Protection Trust writes in support of an appeal of the Landmark Foundation to the Department of Economic Affairs and Tourism (DEAT) that the draft Norms and Standards for the Management of Human-Wildlife Conflict in South Africa be amended to include the following:

That no person or entity may manufacture, distribute, sell, possess, purchase, donate or receive a donation, or use any gin trap or leg holding device (or other similar such mechanism), snares, poison traps or lures or hunting dog packs in the management of human-wildlife conflict, or in the hunting or handling of any wildlife or any animal.

Support for Asia Animal Foundation – June 2008

At this time of the Bejing Olympics, human rights and animal rights should be at the forefront of our global responsibility.

We have challenges of our own in bringing in funds to cover the costs associated with White Lion survival in the wild; so, unfortunately, we are not in a position at present to fund other worthy causes.

However, on the strength of our international reputation, the Global White Lion Protection Trust lends a voice or ROAR of support to other animal welfare organisations, such as the Asia Animal Foundation (AAF) (www.animalasia.org), which has mounted a Moon Bear rescue mission from China’s shockingly gruesome bile farms, into a Rescue Centre for protection and rehabilitation.
