The White Lions have a fascinating connection with Japan, where\u00a0the famous artist, Osamu Tezuka, who first dreamed of the White Lions more than a decade before they were actually documented in the 1970s. He created the famous animation, Kimba the White Lion (which inspired Disney\u2019s Lion King).<\/p>\n

To celebrate the launch of the Japanese version of Linda Tucker\u2019s epic book, Mystery of the White Lions, first published in English in 2001,\u00a0an amazing book launch event was organised in Tokyo.<\/p>\n

Put together by White Lion Leadership Academy scholarship participant, Emiko Tokai, it took place\u00a0in a traditional Japanese old house named ‘yu-do’ in Tokyo. People gathered in special lion-hats depicting the lions from the Timbavati and performed modern “Body Work” (called Movement Medicine)\u00a0in the ancient tradition of\u00a0“Becoming Lions\u201d\u00a0– Dancing with the great Djembe sound.<\/p>\n

Emiko shared her unusual experience as a volunteer in the Heartland of White Lion territories, where she spent two years with the magical lion prides in the wild, translating one of the most ground-breaking books ever written.<\/p>\n

South African bushveld specialities – Rooibos Tea and Amarula liquor –\u00a0all the more delicious far from home – were sampled and hungrily enjoyed.<\/p>\n

In\u00a0the special\u00a0setting of\u00a0shadow play, participants were invited to transport themselves to Timbavati. They had to\u00a0go and\u00a0sit down behind\u00a0the screen\u00a0and\u00a0travel to the Heartlands of Timbavati\u00a0using\u00a0candles, small\u00a0lion figures and some real objects from the White Lions ancestral homelands.\u00a0The rest\u00a0of the group sitting down around the screen in a\u00a0circle, made a variety\u00a0of\u00a0sounds\u00a0as if they were one or other of the many miraculous creatures\u00a0in the\u00a0bush. The whole atmosphere\u00a0created an amazing harmony.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Of course, the event\u2019s Shadow Play was a tribute to Mandla, the Great King of Kings who passed away at\u00a0the age of 19 years (a distinguished 133 years in human terms) and was\u00a0honoured with a royal burial on the anniversary of Mandela\u2019s death 5 December 2015.\u00a0<\/p>\n

She has committed much time to translating\u00a0important texts and she currently facilitates workshops around her life’s purpose which is to nurture\u00a0human sensitivity through working with light & shadow, thus honoring the value of both human and\u00a0wildlife. \u00a0<\/p>\n
